Pros

If you want to work somewhere with A LOT of downtime this is the place. Lots of education opportunities which is interesting. Probably good if you want something long term with slightly below standard pay that is not a challenge. If you are looking to advance your career I doubt this is the place for you.

Cons

Dealing with under trained management. Poorly planned projects with un-predictable requirements (a lot of your job will end up being spent working on things destined to change entirely). Many days spent on busy work that will subsequently get tossed.

Pros

Depending on the project, you will receive and good work life balance. Interesting ideas and projects related to space and satellite imagery. Friendly teammates. Accured flex time for any overtime worked. Good place to start career.

Cons

Tech stack is at least 5 to 10 years behind current market trends. The "required" high security context of the work delays design decisions. Which results in using the "tried and true" method. Lots of legacy code that is very difficult to maintain. Everything is done the cheapest way possible. From limiting developer resources to the point of blocking engineering work to reusing old solutions. Sr staff are not always friendly and shoot down new ideas claiming "it is not the way of the company". "My way or the high way" messages coming from leadership team, with management refusing to advocate for the engineering staff. Every project and team I've encountered is short staffed and struggling to meet their goals. Leadership rather hire junior engineers at a cheaper cost over properly paying their current employees.

Pros

- Some smart and friendly people to work with. - Decent WLB

Cons

- Low compensation, low annual merit increases - High turnover rate because of low compensation, and management isn't doing anything about it - Very unorganized structure. My team of 6 people had 4 different managers (almost 1 manager for each member), but I've only spoken to each one of them 1 or 2 times a year. - Working on some AWS tech, and management is too cheap to pay for AWS dev accounts. So we have 6 members sharing 1 AWS account. - Forcing employees to take 1 week vacation on employees' accrued vacation.
