Pros

I don’t think there are any! You are just a number in this company...

Cons

Poor leadership from the top down. Managers degrade employees and it’s almost impossible to get promoted unless you lie and kiss tail here. I have never worked for a more unethical place! It’s like working for the Dollar Tree of apartment companies.

Pros

There are some remnants of intelligence within the company from Colonial and Post. On site staff is typically very enjoyable to interact with on a day to day

Cons

MAA is one of those companies that is growing too fast without a strong staff to support it. They are acquiring competitors left and right and the quality of work is far beyond embarrassing. There is little to no follow up on issues and anytime a problem arrives it is pawned off.. wait I’m sorry i mean “escalated” to various departments without any resolution. They do not value their employees and are constantly focused on their own bottom line. Working for MAA is a stereotypical job where you are treated like a number. They also have incredibly poor communication... they send out daily “what’s new” e-blasts but they never contain any relevant information to changes in leases, policy, etc. i guess they’re a great source if you want to know everyone’s birthday??

Pros

Great health insurance plans but plan on using much of it for mental health. Lots of flexibility, especially to cry in closets of empty apartments. Used to be a great company to work for, and it COULD be that way again

Cons

Where do I start? Be glad that you will have mental health benefits because you will definitely use it with all the stress you will be under. Senior VPs are vindictive and will get rid of people for trying to be helpful and educate them on areas they have no knowledge over. Well known that if certain C-Suite execs do not like you, you will be on the "hit list" and will be out the door if you sneeze the wrong way. Simply look at their job postings to see the remarkable turnover rate. Coworkers fear for their jobs on a daily basis and wonder who is the next to be let go. A mass exodus could be on the horizon. Senior Execs try to stress work life balance, but they are just talking heads and really don't see what is going on.
