Pros

Smart and supportive teams, interesting work across crypto and fintech, strong flexibility, good exposure to complex financial operations, and plenty of opportunities to learn from experienced people.

Cons

Career progression can feel unclear, especially for more ambitious individuals. As the business has matured, it has become more structured and less agile, which can sometimes slow down decision-making and ownership.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are pleased to hear that you valued our smart and supportive teams, the flexibility we offer, and the unique opportunity to gain exposure to complex financial operations in the crypto and fintech space. We also appreciate your candor regarding career progression and the shifting pace of decision-making as the business matures. We recognize that the growth journey looks different for everyone as some value a linear path, while others find immense opportunity in lateral, "squiggly" growth across different functions. Our ultimate goal is to support all forms of development, and your feedback is a great reminder of how important it is to keep things transparent and clear for everyone looking to grow their career here. Thank you again for your dedication and for helping us shape a better environment for our team's professional growth.

Pros

A nice company to work for overall. Leadership has improved noticeably in recent times. Things were starting to feel a bit stale, but there’s been a significant outflow of long-tenured employees alongside an influx of new people, which has shaken things up in a positive way.

Cons

Luno sits in a slightly awkward middle ground - it’s not a startup anymore, but it’s not a large corporate either (and not a scaleup either). Teams are relatively lean, yet there’s still enough process to slow things down. As a result, we have too much bureaucracy for our size, but not enough resources to execute quickly, which can make the company feel more corporate than its stage would suggest. That said, things have definitely improved. Delivery speed has picked up noticeably over the last 6–12 months and there’s been a positive shift in momentum. We’re still not moving as fast as I’d like, but we’re heading in the right direction.

We also appreciate your perspective on navigating our growth stage between a startup and a larger corporate, particularly around balancing lean teams with necessary processes. It is encouraging to know you’ve seen delivery speed pick up over the last 6 to 12 months. Your feedback is invaluable as we continue to grow and work on streamlining our execution.
