Pros

The work environment is pleasant, and benefits are good. Resources are top-notch, with less bureaucracy than many publicly held companies. Working hours are usually flexible.

Cons

The company has lofty goals, but they often seem unrealistic given the lack of communication or clear vision of how to accomplish those goals. While the LucasArts campus is pleasant and new, the physical location of the campus can be a downside for people that live outside of the heart of San Francisco. No freeways lead to the area from the south, adding 20 minutes commute time to anyone on the peninsula, and from the north there's the bottleneck of the Golden Gate, along with its toll.

Pros

This is a fun, creative and innovative company. People here are incredibly helpful and supportive - quite the opposite from some of the companies I've worked for. The team-oriented culture is a breath of fresh air and it seems like management encourages cross-divisional collaboration. It blows me away to be walking the halls with some of the most talented and accomplished people in the industry. Being in an entertainment company is a lot of fun, even for the accountants. Lucasfilm throws great parties, we've got a free movie screening every weekend and a fitness center on site. We've even got a subsidized daycare center. In terms of facilities, there are two ranches in west Marin County. The buildings are so unique and beautiful, they're almost indescribable. And then there is the campus in San Francisco's Presidio with views of the bay and the Golden Gate Bridge. We also have a studio in Singapore - don't know much about that, though. At least in my role, I've found pretty good work-life balance. Of course there are times when things get pretty hairy and we're working long hours, but I haven't had trouble requesting and taking vacation time. Another wonderful (and civilized) benefit is that the company closes between Christmas and New Year's. All in all, I'm happy here.

Cons

Being privately held, there is no equity to be had here. Bonuses can be inconsistent. Also, the organization is kind of flat so if you're looking to climb a corporate ladder, this probably isn't the best place to do that.

Pros

Be a part of the Star Wars empire. Work on big-budget Hollywood eye-candy. Make millions of movie-goers all over the world say, "Wow!" Innovate; figure out ways of doing things no one else in the world can do. Work with talented, passionate, decent, fun people creating amazing images. Work with people who have mysterious hidden talents. Work with people who make you look good; who wouldn't stand on the shoulders of giants! The best Halloween party. Great location. Free movie screenings. Eat lunch at Skywalker Ranch.

Cons

Working on lousy films. Working under intense pressure. No equity, mediocre pay. Confused agenda for the future. Games.
