Pros

HR does its best to cover up what happens on the floor on a day to day basis as best they can by showering you with perks, if you can take the patronising tone by the sups you can hold for a while till you get a better job, after all is said and done, having the company name on your work sheet does carry weight.

Cons

A rule of thumb is supervisors will give your tasked work on a take (when it is 80% finished by you) to his/her favourite artist to finish and call their own or flat out do it themselves and claim credit and make you look bad to justify it. The place is ridden with manchild characters with very childish attitudes, specially in the compositing area where they are encouraged to be little dictators. Arrogance is rife at this place, I have three bachelor degrees and two masters in sciences and I had not met more ignorant people in my life than here. The culture enforced here is western based. The sups do not speak the local language (which is chinese), they should, they don't even try. Lucasfilm Singapore a.k.a. ILM sing gets the worst work from the worst movies and all the top people are from western vfx nobody wants (they are always cranky and feeling superior to the local artists but keep sucking it up desperately to the sups in san francisco)

Pros

Some fine, intelligent, hard-working people. Beautiful corporate campus. Good dining commons, although, until he left, GWL took a cut of every dime spent there, so profiting from feeding his employees Often interesting work.

Cons

Very low pay, not even close to Bay Area standards. No room for advancement, particularly for women and minorities. It's run like an old white boy's' club from the 50s. Lack of care for employees and fairly toxic politics. Retrograde technologies and resistance to joining 21st century.

Pros

The product is loved and there is a lot of recognition among friends and family. Highest skill/professionalism in co-workers. Everyone is a top tier pro.

Cons

No room for mistakes. Fear of executive presence. No perks compared to other entertainment companies. No stock purchase plan. Expensive dining commons. Little room for promotion.
