Pros

10% discount It's easy to get a job there. Some of the low level employees are nice. At my particular store there is good management.

Cons

The corporate policies are unethical. If you are sick for any reason you need a doctors note and working at Kmart means you most likely can't afford to go to the doctor. Sears credit cards are a scam Depending on the Kmart you work at, you could get fired for having an emergency and not being able to show up. It's retail, you work inconvenient hours, you can plan on missing time with your families for all major holidays except Christmas. Benefits are a joke because they will not pay you enough to get them. They expect you to sell Sears Credit Cards which customers do not want and ask a lot of questions.

Pros

-Meaningful experience for those interested in retail or business -You receive the same training (although condensed) as an assistant manager trainee -High performers are give an opportunity to join the company as an assistant manager-in-training at the end of the internship. The job offer is extended for up to 1 year so you can finish your schooling -All expenses paid trip to Hoffman Estates, IL for an internship conference. You get to tour headquarters and meet the senior leadership team -Kmart is in the midst of a transformation... Great time to be working for SHC! -YOU OWN YOUR INTERNSHIP!! Get out and let your managers know what you want to do with it! -$15 per hour!

Cons

-Senior leadership is horribly out of touch with the stores... They MUST get out and see what is broken to help fix what it is wrong! -Company is focused on web experience, but customers want better stores! -Training for hourly associates is horrible and hourly staff is a revolving door -The project seemed more like "busy work" and not something they genuinely cared about (The project is handled by corporate, not the store staff)
