Pros

It can be very easy to stand out if you are a real worker as the majority of kmart employees are becoming part time high school kids and the turnover is insane. Full time benefits are fairly decent. It is easy to work around your out of work schedule.

Cons

Too many to mention. Corporate disconnect with real world ability to perform the endless lists of tasks passed down given the constantly shrinking budgets that often leave only a couple employees on the sales floor every weekday. Estimated time frames for projects to be completed is grossly miscalculated as it assumes zero interruption from customers and perfect inventory management (impossible due to extremely few full time employees and available budget). Stores seem to be penalized by shrinking budgets when sales are bad, instead of given a budget boost to try and fix the problem, resulting in a never ending year after year sales decrease snowball. Stores are decades old and no money is spent to renovate. Fixtures may be literally taped, zip tied, bent, cut, painted, etc in order get layouts done with whats available.

Pros

The salary for Kmart management seems to be higher than the competitors but you certainly have to work harder than the average person in such a position to keep it.

Cons

Company struggles with inventory levels making the store level experience a nightmare to work in. We often find ourselves handling freight several times before there is room on the sales floor to display it. Upper management decisions are being made without even having an understanding of actual store operations, therefore, giving unrealistic tasks and timelines to the stores and then wondering why stores can't execute. Payroll given to the stores does not match the tasks required of the stores.

Pros

A somewhat laid back environment in the pharmacy, it is not as factory-like as a CVS or Walgreens. There is plenty of time for customer interaction at the pharmacy.

Cons

Store management and keeping the store staffed. It is a major issue when a pharmacy worker is berated by a customer at layaway for waiting for several minutes with no help. There are too many cash card promotions for my liking.
