Pros

Kmart does provide adequate means of transferring from one store to another if you have to relocate for personal reasons.

Cons

Store management and upper management are close-minded, repetitive, and disrespectful to "lower" class employees; additionally, they care little about their own jobs, but expect low-wage associates to devote their lives to the store.

Pros

Good job with fairly decent hours for retail. My immediate store manager is a great one, so I feel lucky in that respect. I feel upper management is open to ideas and suggestions from employees and customers, and I feel it is easy to submit ideas to Bruce Johnson with the provided commuication tool on our employee website.

Cons

I am a fairly new employee to Sears Holding who began my employment in February 2008. Started as a trainee in February 2008, with no increase when promoted to ASM. Pay freeze implemented January 2009. No 401K matching since 2009. Then no raise in 2009. When I finally received a raise in 2010, it amounted to less than a 2% pay increase. So many long term employees makes it somewhat difficult for "new" people to enter the Kmart environment. Many are resistent to change to the "new" Kmart ways or willing to explore "new" ideas or ways of doing things.

Pros

There are great people working for this company and trying to move it into the modern era. I am proud to have met and worked with some of the best people of my retail career. The benefits and pay are good.

Cons

There is a constant battle between new and old. It is like watching pro wrestling. Everyone is part of some faction. I guess the 30 year vetrans are the 4 horsemen and the new guys are Degeneration X. No matter how you look at it, it is not a productive way to build a team.
