Pros

I worked for Kmart for 32 years and I have nothing bad to say about them, we were not just co-workers we were family, management took care of us and always had an open door policy

Cons

Pay wasn't very good but the benefits were so I guess it balances out.

Pros

Some of the other associates were great. Worked with my changing school schedule as long as they were given advance notice of 1 month.

Cons

Saw them cut the hours of multiple employees to one short shift per week so the employee would quit instead of having to fire them. I was told that I had to call in sick 24 hours in advance even though that was impossible because you can't predict when you're going to get the flu. I was told that I needed to get my priorities straight because my part time job at Kmart was more important than my 45k/year university education. The HR person at my store was a horrible person who should have never pursued a career in HR where you have to actually get along with people. Employee discount is basically worthless. Some of their metrics goals don't logically make sense (Instead of requiring a cashier to have 75% of their customers be members have a goal for the percentage of non-members the cashier gets to sign up on a given day). Supervisors all have different ways of doing things which is very confusing for new employees. Computer based monthly training is outdated and useless. Didn't always feel safe because security wasn't always there and the customers always knew when security went home.
