Pros

If you are .5 FTE they have to offer you benefits, mandatory retirement after 1 year of service.

Cons

Instructors teach more classes than their tenured counterparts, usually lower level, required courses with MUCH larger class sizes and more grading.

bad management/planning by department head

Recommend
CEO approval
Business Outlook

Pros

nothing really, but if i must, the campus is beautiful.

Cons

Incompetent department head makes questionable decisions based on his personal preferences, ignoring all the input and recommendation by the faculty members. He lies and blames the department and his dean for the decisions unfavorable to the party he has to make an announcement to. Never follows through what he has promised. Turn over rate of the faculty in the department is rising as his teture started as a department head. Recently announced his resignation as the department head after threatened by his colleagues reporting his incompetence to the dean, but the damage too great to fix now. The dean also ignored multiple complaints made by the faculty members. His lack of interest and willingness for problem solving let the situation escalated.
