Pros

Good pay. Great products. Have met some lovely colleagues.

Cons

Find yourself on the shop floor on your own during trading hours. Horrendous area manager. Sucks the life and confidence out of you. Progression is given to talentless and incapable staff but not to the talented or experienced. Degrading the way area manager speaks to you and treats you. Extremely pushy on sales. Too retail and nothing to do with makeup artistry. Attracts awful custoners. Ridiculous turn over of staff due to no one enjoying it. Disorganised. The list is never ending....!

Worst company I have ever worked for

Pros

Good salary with potential for bonus, although this was often an empty promise as targets were set unrealistically high. Amazing products at a reasonable price. Staff discount on products, although this was only 20%, once a month.

Cons

The whole infrastructure of the company needs to change. All direction comes from Italy, so you are constantly receiving incorrect information, mixed messages, terrible communication, and lack of response to appeals for support. Product launches are always terribly organised and changes are made far too often to be able t to keep up with. The area manager was absolutely awful. You felt condescended, undermined and undervalued. Being spoken to like you're a child and only ever given negative feedback and told you're not good enough, then expected to keep morale high. You were ignored when you approached for help in times of stress or when having difficulties with colleagues or situations. Disciplinary procedures are not followed properly, and if someone in senior management takes a disliking to you for speaking up for your beliefs about the welfare of your team, you'll be out before you know it. Pay or payslips never arrived on time. Training is awful, no basic product training given to management and only five days of management training given rather than three weeks as is expected then thrown in to run a brand new store just weeks before Christmas. Genuinely the worst experience of my working life.

'Absolutely Terrible'

Pros

The people I worked with

Cons

Where do I start? - The most disorganised company I've worked for- rotas were always late, lucky to be paid on time, always understaffed, never got given any product training. - No regard WHATSOEVER for the employees- always expected you to stay behind after your shift had finished (never got out on time), aircon never worked meaning you had to work in uncomfortable conditions, never seen such a high turnover of staff, they just see you as numbers. - Higher management is a disgrace- area manager is unapproachable, extremely rude and ill-mannered, given no support whatsoever, no appreciation for any of the effort you put into the company would rather focus on negatives.
