Pros

It is a great place to begin because Johnson is willing to provide opportunities to people that may not have the a high level of experience in their particular field. The benefits are very good and the opportunity to expand your education is very good with a generous tuition reimbusement program. Also Johnson provides excellent training in your particular field which is very valuable.

Cons

The downsides of Johnson is the fact that it is a very large organization and sometimes employees can get lost in the system and not receive opportunities. Also, to expand your career with Johnson Controls Facility Management or Controls Division as a manager you must be willing to relocate to various areas of the country or world. If you not willing to jump on the relocation wagon your career could stall.

Pros

Outstanding career and development opportunities. There are regular strategic talent reviews. Employees get promoted fast, even if just recently hired. Outstanding leadership performance by Power Solutions and Johnson Controls corporate management. Great vision and strategic planning (Hybrid batteries strategy, production footprint). Senior management is very experienced and skilled, yet approachable. Great employee morale in Power Solutions headquarter. Regular employee feedback.

Cons

Management is very demanding. Frequent overtime work and weekend. Quick turnaround time is always required. Johnson Controls has a history of production footprint changes to be best-in-class and the lowest cost producer. In certain areas Johnson Controls is using outdated IT systems..

Pros

The company provides good pay and better than average benefits. With Johnson Controls Inc being a large company, they have the money to build the business. There are lots of opportunities to for training, both technical and professional. The company does provide for tuition reimbersment, if you choose to pursue that opportunity. The company works very hard at being at the forefront of technology, which allows an employee to learn new and exciting programs and ways of completing their work. The company is very committed to making sure the employees are safe and well taken care of. Overall, Johnson Controls Inc is a good company to work for.

Cons

Like any large company, it is very easy to get lost in the crowd. Recognition for your daily efforts are few and far between, but there have been some changes made to address that. If you don't do something that is totally outstanding, there is never any recognition. At our local office, the middle management isn't interested in recognizing your daily contributions, unless it benefits them directly. Communication from the corporate office is adequate, but the things going on at the local level are never communicated. There have been people hired/fired for weeks without any kind of notification to the other employees. I feel I am well compensated for the work that I do, but if there was another company that I knew had a more 'family' atmosphere, it wouldn't take much to convince me to leave Johnson Controls. And I have been with the company for over eleven years.
