Pros

Compared to other retailers staff at all levels are well treated with good benefits. Good opportunities to progress and move around within John Lewis and Waitrose, building an internal network helps that greatly. Over the last 10 years John Lewis has had great success online and the digital side of the business is growing, and is an exciting place to be.

Cons

There are some 'old school' attitudes around at John Lewis; paternalistic, bureaucratic, process driven without looking at the effectiveness of processes. These people are becoming the minority, but they can still be vocal and influential - so it there can be time wasted ticking boxes when you'd rather be getting something done.

Great coworkers and managers were easy to get along with; wide range of employee benefits and employees don't work on commission so it's easier to be impartial. The job was enjoyable and John Lewis take care for their staff.

Cons

I can't think of any negatives in particular, the company were very good to me and I left on very good terms.
