Business Outlook

Pros

The founder is fearless and loved by everyone. Jet truly values trust and transparency. Since the company/product is doing extremely well, everyone is very hopeful. The turnover is very low for a startup, at least in the hoboken office. It is growing very fast and people are generally happy.

Cons

Similar to most startup, every thing is a little mess. Jet is still trying to have a process around promotion cycle, 401K matching etc.. .

Pros

I've been an engineer at Jet for over a year and it's been the best company I've worked for, hands down. The technology leadership is strong (and getting stronger every month). They really take feedback to heart and are very transparent about their plans and any issues we are facing. Also very down-to-earth and approachable. Competitive salaries and stock options. Big upside. Good learning atmosphere. High-caliber engineering talent. [Mostly] great technology choices Great office and decent perks

Cons

The Azure platform can be frustrating. While the decision to choose the platform was probably the right one for Jet, that doesn't take all the sting out of using it. There are some cases where team leads who are good engineers are not great people managers and that can be frustrating.

Pros

This company has grown so much, so fast. It's fast paced, the work can be really rewarding when talking to happy people. It's close to home and the new building is even closer.

Cons

Management. Unqualified people are promoted all the time and are NOT held to the same standard as the underlings. Work can be very monotonous and very high stress. Systems are shotty and often times completely inadequate. When I hired on, I was promised positive work environment and opportunities to promote. There is very little recognition in the way of praise. After having what seemed like very good interviews with various departments for other opportunities, I was given zero feedback, and not so much as a thanks, but no thanks. The attendance policy is totally a mess. Good people being let go for horribly wrong reasons and everyone fears losing their job. One of the directors daughters is high on the promotion list and gets handed opportunities left and right. The morale is very negative and only getting worse. Jet might be growing as a business, exponentially, but they are doing nothing to improve the work place for their good employees.

Start-up life can be a bit of a roller coaster that's for sure. Sorry to hear that the ride isn't going as well as you expected. We agree that we can continue to get better. Our employee engagement is our highest priority, and transparency is at the foundation of that priority. If you think something isn't working the way you think it should, please share that feedback with your supervisor, or anyone on the leadership team.
