Pros

City centre location, bright open plan office, flexible benefits package, different working week patterns including 4.5 day week and 9 day fortnight.

Cons

Poor middle and senior management, limited opportunities for personal growth, extreme pressure on billability. Low morale, poor performance is tolerated and below average industry remuneration.

Pros

I'm trying to think of one hundred words of good stuff about Jacobs Engineering (Sverdrup). Normally, these things can be filled with lots of fluff about the quality of the people you worked with compared to the management, but that's really not the case here. This company (at least on the IT side) is riddled with people who are incompetent, care nothing for the mess they make for other people, gossip incessantly and seem to go out of their way to avoid work at all costs knowing that the few people with a clue will pick up the slack. Ugh.

Cons

Lies, lies and more lies. I've never seen a company lie to its employees so frequently. Good managers are pushed aside due to nepotism, and employees who actually work are used abusively with travel that was never agreed to as well as working shifts up to 72 hours long to fix a manager's mistake. To make it worse, Sverdrup (the division of JE I worked for) is located in a cesspool of a town with absolutely no other opportunities for a decent job in IT, so they know they have you over a barrel if they convince you to move there. Overall, I would never recommend to anyone to even think about working there.

Pros

Met some good friends while here

Cons

I don't think there's even enough space to write everything wrong with this job. Worst job ever. No one likes it here. Retention is a huge issue due to the low salary, boring work, duplicitous job marketing, horrible management, etc. In the time I was with Jacobs our benefits were slashed, all morale events were cancelled, and the previous PM abandoned ship when several employees got COVID (he chose not to go into the office but let everyone else go in, didn't alert any of the other employees that they should get tested/ take extra precautions). The current PM is unhinged and threatened to fire everyone, routinely gossips about employees, and blatantly plays favorites (including passing up senior members of the team who had working for over a year to promote a buddy of his who had been on the contract for all of three months and wasn't even operational). Jacobs upper management is completely incompetent and even the process of quitting was strife with issues. The other company on this contract (IntelliBridge) pays its employees significantly more. If you're going to take this job just use it as a stepping stone and stay for no more than a year at most. Do not take a retention bonus if they offer it, you will end up paying it back.
