Pros

Good work-life relationship within the work environment is present due to the local area (NASA). Jacobs Technology is based inside the Ames Research Facility making the work culture relaxed and stress-free compared to many comparable jobs within the same area.

Cons

There isn't much movement within the company for growth, although gaining knowledge is essential and acknowledged within the local area of work.

Pros

Location and projects. Very good staff - always willing to help. Senior staff is wonderful!

Cons

Lots of people; there is the tendency to feel like you are only a number. Middle management are a times a bit pushy , but are saddled with the task of getting the job done. Middle managers can be a bit pushy and at time are down right insulting. I know that I have bee insulted by them on more than one ocassion, but have not heard as much as a single "I'm sorry" for their poor behavior. Upper management however is not very tolerant of mis-steps by over zealeous middle managers. I have found that making an appointment with the HR manager can solve most problems with middle managers and they will then leave you alone to do your work.

Pros

Jacobs is on financial solid ground and is well diversified throughout the globe. Jacobs also takes the wellness and safety of every employee very serious and it backs up the talk with the dollars to ensure a healthy workplace.

Cons

Communication from highest levels does not filter to everyone. Company has had tremendous growth and needs to deal with growing bureaucracy. There is a sense of apathy in the employees that surrounds those things that everyone knows are not conducive to efficient business. The IT organization is in dire need of restructuring and leadership. Hopefully the new CIO will be able to turn this around.
