The cultural poison in deep in the US commercial org. Hiring and promotional practices are inconsistent at best, illegal at worst. HR and legal protect even the worst actors in leadership, who use both to effectively spy on and push out people who dare point out the hypocrisy and intentional lack of diversity and fairness. Don’t go to HR, it leads no where and just puts a target on your back for retaliation. Burn out is rampant, but celebrated as a badge of honor. Bro culture is the norm, you may even feel like you’re actually in a mens locker room on routine team calls. No accountability whatsoever for directors and up. Lots of effort to “show” there’s focus on diversity, but no real action or change is allowed. People talk, there are no secrets, which makes it so much more demoralizing when you see lies and undeserving promotions so clearly based on being in the good graces, or rather in the total control of the VP’s vs actual performance or value delivered from diverse perspectives. As long as you are willing to protect status quo and tow the line for the men at the top, no matter the consequences to anyone else or yourself, you’ve got a path to career advancement at Intuitive.
