Pros

Leader in robotic surgery technology, great executive leaders, some smart people work here (mainly in Engineering, Product Development, etc). ESPP is very good.

Cons

Middle management (CSMs and CSDs) in the sales organization is underwhelming. The candidacy for Management Development Program requires significant overhaul. Favoritism is prevalent, with little accountability, and internal talent development, especially from the CTA pool. There are a lot of talented, and high performing CTAs leaving because Managers don't have a clear succession plan or a bench of candidates or they already have someone in mind (probably a Surgeon's nephew)... High-potential reps who don't conform to the BS are often assigned challenging accounts without adequate support, under the guise of "growth opportunities," which is more like exploitation. Merit-based advancement? Nop, the process here is compromised, and frankly, a farce, as quotas are adjusted to favor certain individuals for promotion. If you are close with your Director, you'll be fast tracked for promotion. There have been many now CSMs who have no business being a people leader, but since they are great politicians, they will get all the exemptions to the policies. Nepotism is a concern, with promotions influenced more by connections than by qualifications or performance (but they will never admit this because self awareness is a skill most of the CSMs and CSDs do not have). If you're not part of the preferred circle, progressing here can be challenging...

Pros

• Being part of the mission of minimally invasive surgery and world-class technology. • Excellent compensation package, but not a fan of the tiered health insurance premiums • New buildings have nice perks, i.e., café, lunch options, charging stations, etc. • Numerous social events are geared more towards the professional sector, not direct labor. • Before COVID, the PT events and rewards were more frequent and generous.

Cons

• Speed of growth adversely impacted the culture – “Not the same was used to be” is commonly heard, especially from tenured employees. Stop blaming COVID for the culture shift. • Poor Hiring practices also impacted culture. A commented offered, “The current culture is outdated, and I need to create my own “Dos and Don’ts” which aligned with concepts taught in grade school and had a “cultish” feel to it. • Hiring is biased and oftentimes focus on how many boxes an internal or external candidate checks off. Candidate selection has little to do with skillset or experience. • Inward mobility is for the chosen few who are aligned and not for the outspoken minority. An environment of mutual trust, freedom of expression, and teamwork wasn’t the norm. • Decisions by hiring panels are “overruled” by management, and their specific candidate is selected, while other candidates are rejected without qualification. • A multi-billion-dollar company awards prizes but requires the employees who win the prizes to sign off that they are responsible for the taxes. • The performance evaluation process is lengthy, cumbersome, and does not accurately reflect performance or fair compensation. Observed merit increases adjusted and awarded based on gender, not performance, and did not align with published standards and guidelines.

Pros

Fast paced and challenging Proven technology that helps patients Develop relationships with MANY surgical specialities and executives

Cons

No balance and if you set limits/boundaries you will not advance. Low pay for the expectations and pace Managers/directors/VPs abuse their power to “shift quotas” and get upset about not “finding” elective surgery forgetting their number is tied to a patient. Many redundant roles in “management” and director levels that pray off productive boots on the ground reps
