The work load is ridiculous. I mean we are literally doing two jobs. This department is a revolving door because the job has high demands with unrealistic expectations. We have to CONSTANTLY "clean" accounts that are unbalanced. Our royalty partners have such complicated royalty calculations you can't keep up with it. There are a too many manual procedures to this role and I feel bad for any one that comes to this department. You have to send out statements, reconcile the accounts and on top of that do internal financial reporting and balance sheets and much much more.
Another thing that is annoying is that they don't hire people that know what they are doing. It really hurts the team and the week links get WAY less work than the people who do know what they are doing. The week links continue to stay along for the ride because they don't have that much work so they won't be as stressed out as someone who has 50 things to do. Not saying they don't get stressed because the job is not for the faint of heart. But it requires someone who is well seasoned to be in that position and they keep hiring junior level people. That's their first mistake! why keep hiring people that don't know accounting or how to do a vlookup when we are constantly having to reconcile and depend so heavily on excel! I just don't get it.
I won’t even get into the hours that we have to put into staying late. We have stayed as late as 10pm at night ON A SATURDAY. Do your self a favor and stay far far away from this department. The company it self is good over all but the royalties department is a mess.
