Pros

-Free Food and lunches - Free Beer and Fridays end a bit early - Happy hours occasionally - Entertaining coworkers

Cons

If you are looking to go into sales for Indeed run. The other departments like client services, small business and account management are fine. The training for sales is a joke. You are sent to Connecticut for a week and are taught by a trainer who openly admitted they have never sold in their life. Then your first week you need to find 75-100 prospects. This is extremely hard to do and when you do all you have is crap prospects with a very low job volume. 2nd week you are expected to make 30 calls per day. 3rd week is ridiculous, you are expected to make 60 calls per day. It is good the first day or two but by the 3rd you have run out of people to call....and then it continues tell people quite or are let fired and you inherit a small portion of their prospects. In the sales department there are very little prospects to go around....leading to quotas not being hit. The turnover has increased dramatically and management has little to no experience to direct you. Also... Beware of the recruiters, they will say almost anything to get you on board but in reality you are just another dollar in their pockets. To sum it up INDEED is a place where salesman go to die. Under paid, not enough prospects and not enough experienced managers. Free beer though...

Oddball in the Silicon Valley

Pros

Met some great friends ... learned some crucial account management skills. Free coffee and bagel Friday was good

Cons

Underpaid in the silicon valley (we are talking 20-30K for same positions elsewhere). Be weary if you're 3-5 years out of college, keep looking around. In fact you're better at a start-up where maybe things are risky but they are more exciting and you will have bigger pay checks. Not a typical internet company. Same exact day everyday, no change. Very stale for such a young company in the SV. *Important note: This company is HQ'd in CT, NOT California. So if you are looking for that typical Silicon Valley experience, this isn't the place to get it. This company is VERY "Butt in Chair 8-5" not flexible with doctors appts, etc. Some managers have you "make it up." In addition; if you want to be paid hourly in your late twenties, work here! Many of the team members had their salary switched to hourly b/c of their job description. Be weary and ask if you're interviewing. I have to admit I was there probably in their worst year for California. Too much negative change or non-change at once. I have a good feeling they will turn it around in 2014. There were poor management issues but I have heard they have fixed 90% of them. Mostly too many people far to "green" in their careers to have a team of their own. No real inspirational leaders here. In addition: there is NO fluidity working with other teams. Customer feedback almost always goes unheard b/c non engineers are not encouraged to pass on comments to product/engineering team. LinkedIn is always a threat and while Indeed may have quantity in audience, LinkedIn has quality. The product at Indeed is good but long term there is no social, how will it last when Gen Y gets job hungry? Bottom line; if you're hungry, if you're ambitious, and if you want an exciting career - think twice before accepting your underpaid offer here. Did you graduate this past year? Work here a year and then leave. It will be fine - but make sure your manager is 8-10 years older so you have a strong mentor and leader and someone who will change your life ! Always interview your manager! Huge advice and something I regret not doing with Indeed.

Excellent Stepping Stone

Pros

- free breakfast, lunch and dinner and beer - flexible(ish) work environment - lots of very intelligent, cultured and worldly people - opportunity to learn a little bit of everything due to cross-functional nature of role - great product, great prospects for company growth - lots of start-ups and tech companies know Indeed, makes it easier to jump into a higher position at another company after paying your dues.

Cons

- current structure of the international team is a dead-end for most - some managers micromanage - other managers are very laid-back and people abuse their freedom - severe favoritism and fierce internal politics within certain regional teams - frequent 'promotions' are merely title changes with few, if any, extra responsibilities, power, or influence - some managers do not keep up with their responsibilities resulting in team members having to pick up the slack - managers taking credit for work their team does - lack of mentorship or general guidance - country managers with heavier workloads have less opportunity to take on extra projects than those with easier workloads - it is necessary to FIGHT for ownership of a project when something out of the routine pop ups - good luck moving to another team within the company. you'll have to find and train your own replacement, basically. it's taken some up to a year after getting the job before they can make the move.
