Inchcape Australia, don't bother

Pros

Good employee benefit scheme including cheap rental vehicles and retail discounts on a large range of stores (more than just automotive). Earning potential IS decent IF you can sell AND stay on your manager's good side. Global company means a lot of ability to move around, even accommodating of international relocations. A few managers (very few) care about their reports' well-being.

Cons

Plentiful growth opportunities that are rarely if ever filled with internal staff. Managers constantly hire externally and frequently terminate these external hires on the final day of their probation. During my time at Inchcape I saw in excess of fifteen (off the top of my head) staff leave one dealership (both terminations and resignations). Employees are terminated at a moment's notice, frequently having been told that management has no concerns with their work as little as 3 weeks prior. Inchcape will not acknowledge there is a management problem, and when targets aren't met, management consistently places blame on their sales teams who work 60hr+ weeks. It is not just common practice, but management's expectations, that staff will stay at work until as late as 1am during busy periods with no additional time in lieu OR overtime pay. Loyal staff are ignored and rebuffed when attempting to ascend in the organisation, while staff that have been reported for harrassment and bullying on separate occasions by separate members of staff are not disciplined. One staff member was sexually assaulted on two separate occasions and Inchcape HR did not believe her and refused to investigate. If you are offered a job by Inchcape, find something (anything) else.

Pros

Well known company. Hourly salary rate ok compared to some other companies.

Cons

1. Team leaders frequently openly discuss (gossip about) absent staff members to staff who are present in the office. 2. Seems to be a massive aversion to face to face discussions - most communication done to "the guys" (even though the majority of the workforce is female) via e-mail. Very impersonal. 3. Company blatantly lies about a poll being done to get staff input, when in fact they have no facts/figures to back up their statement and a poll was definately not conducted on our site. 4. Very secretive and sly about the way they put changes in place. For example, at the site where I work, full time staff were given additional training leading to an incentive opportunity, whilst part time staff had to find out they were not being given the training "through the grapevine." Even though it is still a trial run, the company has given no reasonable justification as to why part time staff have not been trained or included in the incentive. 5. Bonuses and incentives offered on one hand and taken off with the other. You lose bonus if you are more than 4 minutes late over a month or a colleague at a remote site happens to make a complaint about you. The company has many avenues to prevent paying you a bonus. 6. Progression opportunites are few and far between. You are treated like a number and not an individual. The company selection process is very intense, but if you come to work for this company forget all your skills and qualities. You will become an automaton. 7. No regular staff meetings. These seem to be totally random and infrequent. If you happen to be off on a day when a meeting takes place then it seems to be totally random as to whether vital information is ever communicated to you or not. 8. The company has a policy that only 1 full time staff member and 1 part time staff member off at any one time. They have a policy that no staff to take time off at Xmas and New Year but due to their idiotic rest of the year policy, this leads to a built up of holidays so loads of staff off at Xmas. 9. Staff mistrust each other and the management due to team leaders having allowed former staff to get away with earning huge bonuses through deceit to customers. Too lengthy to go into the exact details here of the exact situation, but I do believe from reading other reviews that this is indicative of Inchcape's culture.

Pros

Inchcape is known for their supportive and inclusive front line staff and management, creating a positive work environment for their employees, However,

Cons

it has been reported that the back of house team particularly the Human Resource team, utilizes bullying tactics to remove individuals from the company whom they personally dislike. This behavior has caused distress among employees and has led to attempts to address the issue with corporate managers Unfortunately, these attempts to address the issue only escalated the situation. It is concerning that a company known for its supportive culture would have such a toxic dynamic within its HR department. It is important for Trivett Automotive Retail to address and rectify this issue to ensure a safe and inclusive workplace for all employees. Bullying in any form should not be tolerated and it is the responsibility of the company to take action and create a positive work environment for all staff members
