Pros

Good knowledgable people all around.. Very nice place to work, decent salary and benefits package. Flexible hours and relaxed atmosphere.

Cons

Unresonable expectation at times, crazy hours, no mandatory training, mid management needs proper training and should provide better incentives. Way too many shuffling in the team

Pros

Prestigious, (previously) innovative company. You get to work on interesting, high-profile content. Very good health benefits, good pension. One of those stereotypical tech companies with on-site perks like a cafeteria and video games. My direct team were all nice and good to work with.

Cons

So many people working here are miserable. It's an unspoken thing that your work day is at least 9 hours and then you are expected to be on call essentially at all times. No work-life balance, people regularly message you at 11pm or on a Sunday afternoon. VERY meeting heavy culture, most of which are unnecessary and happen just because. Senior management are so disconnected from the rest of the company and clearly don't care. The company is currently throwing money at new strategies that don’t actually make a profit just to look modern for shareholders. Sketchy HR practices. Nepotism in hiring. Low pay. No opportunities for career growth, they tend to hire new, often unqualified people rather than promoting within. Forced workers back to the office full-time during COVID just because the CEO wants it and thinks if people see offices back in person, they'll go to the movies again (???) Senior management has no direction or concept of what employees’ jobs are like. US management keeps shifting more departments from Canada to the US despite this supposedly being a Canadian company. Extremely depressing since I had so much respect for IMAX coming in to the company. Due to all of the above the company is bleeding people (the staff is all either brand new or people who have been there for decades, before the company got like this) yet management doesn't seem to care.

Pros

Cool facilities with lots of snacks Movie screenings

Cons

Cons? Where do I start? The company has no sense of direction as it relates to its human capital and they lack almost everything a company needs to have in place in order to retain top talent. It is no surprise that the turnover is abysmal. HR lacks the expertise, and experience, needed to correct problems. They have had three Chief People Officers in the last 4 years. A very telling sign. It is a “throw one another under the bus” culture that permeates every department. There is a lack of leadership throughout. Many have been with the company for years and are treated as sacred cows. Leadership needs to awaken to the fact that their employees are leaving because of the skill they themselves lack.
