The IGT-GTECH merger seems to have created lots of internal challenges and distractions at the senior management level that have negatively impacted employee engagement and the overall morale within the company. On the GTECH side, there is a feeling that even though GTECH purchased IGT, GTECH employees are the ones who have had to change their culture and business practices the most to adapt to how the combined company operates. In 2015 GTECH employees were told that they would be getting an annual raise, only to have it cancelled at the end of the year, supposedly due to financial pressures. Meanwhile, the company continues to pay a quarterly dividend, and management publicly states that performance is strong. This disconnect leads to a lack of trust that makes employees not trust the senior leadership team.
