The work environment is toxic and the priority is productivity over all else no matter the cost. The need to chase unattainable deadlines lead to overworked employees who feel unappreciated and unfulfilled. The company’s way of showing appreciation is by passing out stickers and free beer. We’re told we can’t afford administrative pay for days we can’t work due to safety and weather, yet we’re watching as they are continuing to create six figure salary positions. The top three supervisors for print/construction operations do not care about the staff or the company. They’re only there to protect their salaries. When criticizing the VP of construction operations’ openly rather than taking in criticism, he threatened to figure out how to eliminate the use of Slack. When we voiced concerns about not making our minimum hours in the rainy weeks or winter months we were told to find a second job. He insists on bringing criticism to him directly as an intimidating tactic. Those above him show up randomly and it’s clear they have no idea what’s actually happening at any given moment. There’s a strange obsession with E.Musk … If Icon were a human they would have sever ADHD and a mood disorder.

In no particular order PTO - is always said to be "unlimited" but good luck on actually getting it approved by management because only 4 people in the entire department of 150~ can have a day off Schedule - the schedule is an actual dumpster fire. 6 schedule changes this year alone and 4 of those in the past 6 months. Currently there are 3 different schedules happening at the same time. Youre either working 15 hour days, 12 hour days for a 24hr run, or 8 hour days, that can and will switch depending on the week. You have no time for family or friends. Culture - The people who you immediately work with are really one of the only reasons you are staying at the company. Unfortunately, anyone above the supervisors are actually insane. They get visibly angry with you if you dont drop everything you are doing outside of work to come in and work or stay late (was asked after a 12 hour shift to stay an extra 6 hours to finish a test print). Too many people prioritize "the mission" over everything else and expect everyone else to also. Promotions - Non-existent for the ones actually on the slab doing the work. However every single person thats above a supervisor is getting promotions like candy with made up job titles to justify anything they do. Disconnection - Higherups are so disconnected from anyone thats below them that its actually depressing. During a meeting where they brought in the entire Print Operations department (the people who do the manual labor and operate the machines), A higherup that greatly influences our jobs told all of us that if we aren't able to pay our bills because of weather days or ~wanting to leave a work site because of gunshots being heard across the fence~ then we should just get a second job driving people to the airport. When any higherup comes onto the slab and tries to tell us what to do its almost 9 times out of 10 that it will either break the machine or just not work because they have no understanding of how the machines work now. Safety - they straight up dont care about our safety here. So many people got sent to the hospital during the heat this year (2023) with the 12 hour shifts and they didn't seem to care, at first they said we should salt our foods and drinks and when they realized what that meant they back tracked. They fired the safety guy during the January layoffs and never employed anyone else to fill the roll. They've also told us that if the company gets fined from OSHA then we would have to pay those fines ourselves. Pay - the pay is fine here, its not the worst. However dont ever expect to get a raise here. They dont do any yearly raises to account for inflation and promised Performance review raises for a year and a half and only gave out 1-2 dollar raises and some didnt get anything. Dont even get me started on bonuses. During last years Christmas party they were eluding to giving out bonuses to the people who were on a project for more than 6 months where they brought them on stage and handed them an envelope which when opened had a sticker in it. 2 weeks before Christmas they told us we wouldn't be getting any Christmas bonuses or a raise when they promised all of the department one. One team was promised if they completed a house in record time they would each get $100 but that was 2-3 months ago and still nothing from even that. Projects - If you are on a project then expect to work every single day while you're there. Now that might not be a con to some people but when you work 12 14 hour shifts in a row without a break, it gets a little crazy. Don't expect a Per Diem on any project. They will "provide" food for you on the project but they will go for the cheapest and unhealthy option and not care about dietary restrictions (and thats if they even remember to get you food). The only exception is a maybe $20 a day for food but you dont get the money if you dont use it, and that was only on 1 project.
