      Pros

      IBM Canada offers flexible hours that allow employees to manage the demands of both work and family life. With the very large product and brand base, there is a lot of variety in assignments, and lots of opportunity for technical growth.

      Cons

      IBM has long hours because the products you support are available worldwide. Customers could have questions and problems from virtually any country and you need to be able to respond on a very short time line to inquiries. In addition, a lot of roles are being sent to other countries, and the training and support of the other countries requires long hours and significantly extra effort because of the language barriers.

      Pros

      Very interesting work, particularly in the more technical areas. Lots of smart people to work with. Lots of opportunity to move, and if you are lucky you can gradually move into a job that is a good fit for you. This might be harder is a smaller company.

      Cons

      Very big company - not all parts of the company are equally well run. Some parts don't seem to be as good as others (in terms of being a good place to work).
