      1. Flexibility. For example, the ability to adapt your work schedule around personal commitments (depending on which area of the business you are in). 2. Job security.

      Cons

      1. Politics and corporate red tape. 2. Ratings are not always based on facts, they are based on opinion; therefore performance reviews can be really biased. You absolutely need to make sure your colleagues enjoy working with you or you are not considered to have performed well.

      Pros

      Education, The company is more then willing to spend money on expanding your experience and learning since being at IBM for just over 3 years they have spent well over 100g to further my education. all these courses were hands on in small classrooms and benefited me greatly in my day to day work role. (the money spent includes flights, hotel, expenses etc). Movement in the company is also a huge benefit to joining IBM, provided you are a hard worker with a willingness to learn and grow there is a lot of opportunity to move within IBM not only organizationally but also to different job roles in different countries, IBM is a world wide company and gives you the opportunities to do so.

      Cons

      As a large company with a large number of share holders the company makes a lot of money saving decisions that don't offer much to the employee, small raises, no bonuses and expense crunches

      Pros

      IBM is very big on telecommuting. When you decide to take your vacation days they are not heavily scrutinized. There are tons of opportunities to move within IBM. The company and its brand is recognized world wide. The company has an excellent knowledgebase and intranet.

      Cons

      IBM can be very impersonal. The company is very process driven which can be a plus, but often people use it as an excuse to not do any work. Raises and promotions seem to be non-existant unless you have a good manager or know how to work the system. Not a great place to work if are looking to move quickly in your career.
