Pros

My job consisted of doing accounting work for all four of their hotels in Athens, GA. I specifically did the daily audit for the Holiday Inn. Although I had done accounting work before, there audit is very specific, and I received great training from the women I worked with. My supervisor and boss were both very nice.

Cons

I was paid $9.25 an hour, but the women who I worked with who worked full time made no more than $12 an hour. I was a college student at the time, and being PT I thought my salary was average, but the FT workers were treated unfairly. I heard from someone who works there still that things have gotten a lot better, and I hope they have because while I was there the women were treated as disposable, when they were a huge asset to the business.

Pros

Part of IHG and if the hotel is owned and/or managed by IHG, then you're in luck. Great career opportunities, lots of development on offer for the right people. Pay is always a challenge in this industry until you make it up to higher management level. Good bonus/incentive schemes on offer

Cons

If you end up working for certain franchisee owning groups like Cairn Hotels in the UK, then don't bother even applying for. No rewards or recognition for hard work not even a thank you. No opportunities or development plan in place. No bonus is offered as the owners feel 'I'm paying you to do a job, why should I pay you a bonus for achieving or exceeding targets'. Shame that IHG does not have a control or say in what the owners can do to their employees. In my case, the owners even lied openly to change targets, played staff against staff to create hate and unhealthy competition between staff, never offered any reviews and to make it worse, they get away with it. They are well known for their unprofessional ways but because they are growing as a franchisee group, even IHG turns a blind eye to what happens to their staff. Real shame b
