Pros

Hertz is a great place for a brand new college graduate to begin their professional career, especially if they have no prior professional job experience. It's great that Hertz offers a Manager Trainee program that allows these types of people to get a foot in the door. I was satisfied with the sales training they offer.

Cons

The only downsides is that the hours are long and it's very demanding as far as physical labor. Trainees are required to wash, vacuum, and fill cars up with gas. Overall prepare the vehicles for rental. Which doesn't sound bad, but when you're in a long sleeved shirt and tie having to wash cars in the summer heat it can get pretty nasty. By the end of your shift your clothes will be dirty, and you'll feel pretty gross.

Pros

As a manager you are alowed to take home a car each night. When I left , Hertz was deciding on if they would charge there managers $200 a month to drive the Hertz cars home at night. If they do not , its a nice benifit. You get to drive the newest cars ...Escalades, Navigators, Hummers, Lexus..some nice stuff. If you are a Branch Manager you get to drive a free rental during your vacation ,even if you fly to another state. A few years ago hertz would reward its best employees with monotary gifts and lunches. Now they say they can't. You get monthly sales rewards. The better the salesman the more money you can make. max monthly bonus you can make at a hle is $1500. Most of the time its around $250.

Cons

Communication from area or city managers were bad. City Managers would send out an e-mail while you were on vacation and expect the work to be completed before you were scheduled to come back from vacation. They didn't care if you knew about it or not. They would use that as an excuse to write you up.They were inconsistant with "write up leters".They would wait until they had mult write up letters on one guy and only one write up letters on the other guy before they terminated someone. If you stood up for yourself , you were singled out to be fired. 65+ hours a week ,if you want to make sure everything goes smoothly as a branch manager. You work every holiday and its hard to schedule vacation time. Alot of duties that were done by someone else , is now done by the branch manager. Pay roll, Transporting cars from one location to the next, bad debt calls for less than $100.. It is twice the work now than it was 2 years ago. They said that you "can" earn a fat 1/4 bonus but something always gets in the way.The stars have to align for you to get $1000 bonus.
