This company is a textbook example of mismanagement and financial irresponsibility. Despite ongoing financial struggles, leadership continues to spend frivolously—and it’s frankly disturbing to witness. Every few weeks, we’re introduced to yet another one of Gil’s former Delta colleagues, added to the Senior Leadership Team as if stacking the org chart with personal connections will fix the problems they helped create. The more of them that come aboard, the more toxic the environment becomes. Leadership hides behind empty slogans about “putting people first,” when in reality, it’s painfully clear they only prioritize themselves and their inner circle. It’s embarrassing to sit on a company-wide leadership call and be told—with zero irony—that we’ve invested in a large quantity of Hertz-branded rubber duckies. You truly can’t make this up. Meanwhile, whole departments are filled with individuals who provide no operational value, working remotely in roles that require on-site presence. Leadership turns a blind eye while continuing to pay full wages and benefits to these ghost contributors. Off the top of my head, I can think of at least five individuals in my department alone who are getting paid to do virtually nothing. That’s easily half a million dollars a year wasted—just in a single department of 30–40 people. Multiply that by the number of departments across the company and the waste becomes staggering. The disconnect between leadership’s words and actions is not only demoralizing—it’s a clear signal that change is not on the horizon.
