Terrible company to work for

Pros

No positives to working here

Cons

The work culture here is terrible. I was given full control of one of the busiest day to day desks in the region after a week and half of working here. My desk was the busiest of my specialism in my office and known for being the busiest in the region. They overload you with the desk then throw on an extra 40 “training” and don’t understand that you are new and trying to learn a completely new industry expecting you to be able to pick up exactly where the last consultant left off. They said to me that the first 3 months allowance and bonuses were paid for as you are new, but took the allowance away in my first full month for not hitting targets. They always talk about not wanting you to take work home with you for fear of burn out but overload you with work and online training modules in the early stages making you feel like there is no option but to take work home. The hours are long, I do over 10 hours a day with extras when I get back. The management don’t listen to you when you say your overwhelmed with work and act like it’s completely your fault that you are not performing as well as an experienced recruitment consultant is. They also give you the title of consultant on the system and to customers however you are an associate in the company so they do not have to pay you a consultants pay. The wage is pathetic, joining you get around the 21000k mark plus bonuses and allowance. For working 55/60 hours a week in a incredibly high pressure and stressful environment is a joke. Do not work here is you value your normal life and want to be able to live outside of work.

Pretty Honest Review...

Pros

Earning potential here is second to none - most average performing consultants are earning between 10-20K every month. Not impossible for someone to hit 6 digit commission figures in a month. To a certain level - most things are super established & transparent (salary, expectations, KPI, promotion criteria's, training) Fun events and able to claim just about everything i.e. food with clients, transport, sports and rec, a LOT of money vouchers and free gifts. They know how to make the job fun - you don't have to explain who Hays is, everybody knows who they are. All you need to work on is sales techniques, negotiation, ability to think super fast on pushbacks, commercial acumen. You get to work with a very diverse pool of clients - MNC, Banks, Consulting Firms, FMCG, Retail, Automotive, etc. If a company is making tons of money, Hays is most likely on their panel of vendors.

Cons

Not for everybody - super fast paced environment & highly competitive.
