Most upper management do not listen to their employees who are doing the actual work. This causes less quality and efficiency. There is not much of a chance to grow and move up unless you have a military background or have a degree (any degree will do, it does not actually have to pertain to your job at all for lower management positions) Opportunities are not offered based on experience and knowledge. Favoritism from management also prevents employees to excel and create a career making it easy to use as a pass through job to gain experience.

I found promotional opportunities to be a bit scarce, with no clear guidelines on what is expected at each level. Of course this would not apply to the company as a whole, but more specifically to the small team I was working with at a satellite office.
