4 years later, and I still haven't updated my LinkedIn profile to say my employer is HLCTech
Pros
In 2019, I began working for a small Seattle area contracting firm. They treated us well and paid us well, however, benefits weren't the best. For example, no matching 401K. In late 2019, HCLTech bought this small Seattle area contracting firm. Some of my peers immediately resigned. I thought the HCLTech Leaders who, initially, met with us did a very good job explaining why they purchased this small firm and reasons why we, their employees, should stay following this acquisition. I chose to stay and I have now been a full-time employee for 4 years. For the most part, we remained a subsidiary and not much changed over the next several months. Benefits, including 401K matching, did improve.
Cons
HCLTech's reputation, in America, is poor. This was the case before the underpaying of H-1B visa workers whistlerblower complaint came to light. My biggest complaint is the terrible support their service/help desk "provides" whenever issues arise with my laptop. Most of the people I have communicated with appear to have zero experience fixing even basic laptop issues. Equally bad are the enterprise apps that we use for recording timesheets, completing training, and other basic functions. It's as if these apps were developed in 1995 and work just as poorly as those older systems.
