Pros

Great Vacation days benefits and rarely any black out period which is good for a retail company in America. Easier to transfer to different stores than at most retailers.

Cons

Lack of promotion for managers. Once you reach the manager level the district teams have no interest in developing you. It's all about the store and how you can do more with less while making the same amount. there is never-ending internal promotion process that is more harm than good and leaves people in limbo. They deny people higher positions out of the stores and then don't allow for experience or training to get you to that level so they just hire someone from the outside who doesn't know what they're doing.

Pros

Vacation and Sick Time but most of all what made me want to be there were the Customer's.

Cons

They don't give you enough time in the day to do everything they expect you to do...The District team changes all the time when you do have a good District Manager they take them away and Promote someone who shouldn't be a District manager.District Manager's talk down to you and don't treat you with respect. The District team also doesn't help you when you ask for help and set's you up to fail..They cut you hours and take away your management team so you can't succeed if you are friends with someone on the district team you will get promoted regardless if you are a good worker or not.The District Team never Tell's you that the store look's good only Tell's you that this isn't done or that's not done .They should go to the store's and roll their sleeves up and help out when needed they never come to the Phillipsburg store because it is to far away for them.Long hour's to much work that you can never get done and changes all time ....

Pros

There is a 25% discount for employees, if you consider that to be important. The pay is also rather decent for a retail job. There are incentives for beating monthly sales goals.

Cons

In my store particularly, there is NO communication between management and the visuals, management and sales advisors...and, in fact, there really is no communication amongst the managers themselves. They threaten you with termination even if you have a legitimate reason for calling out of work. They tell you that they "believe in people", but then they hold it over your head if you are accidentally late for work. Management is notorious for showing favoritism to specific employees and leaving everyone else to fend for themselves. Department managers spend more time changing what their subordinates have done in their respective concepts/departments than they spend working on their own tasks. NO ONE follows the daily breakdown sheet, so if you're scheduled for time in your department, forget about it....especially if the managers' pet is working. There is no such thing as openness or equality at H&M...no matter how much you'd like to believe it.
