Too Much Work To Function

Pros

Job security. Reinsurance is niche. Learned a lot since I've been here

Cons

Too much work. You do everything for the clients and it's just not manageable. Treaties renew, set them up, report / update losses, LOCs, audits, premium, collections. If you have high volume accounts like I do, you are stressed and just dreading when work starts. Claim system is terrible ie: can't calculate claims right, can't handle clash claims, can't do reinstatements right. The claims system message board is the worst I have ever seen in a company. If you do a little mistake in there, it throws the claim notices off and then you get blamed for it by the people who run it. As I mentioned, you learn a lot because you are thrown into it. They can't find people to hire. Company is not worth the stress nor the money

Pros

Good place to work, a bit easier if you're a man.

Cons

Loads of nepotism, hard to get around that.

Pros

Good salary if you get it from the start. See data lake people.

Cons

Almost everything else. Hard to get promoted unless you are part of the “boys club” of completely incompetent fools.
