GT hired me for what was essentially a temporary assignment without my knowledge. They had acquired a massive new client and needed all the help they could get with the transition. I had no experience in immigration or paralegal duties coming in, but I was assured that I would be provided training. This proved not to be true at all. When problems arise the only people you can turn to are your coworkers, who are already overworked. The office managers made no effort to be available for questions, and when you finally do catch one for a question, they are extremely rude and annoyed. When things were finally stable with the new client I was let go with absolutely no forewarning and replaced by someone with several years of experience. The reason cited for my dismissal was errors in my work product, but I was never once approached or warned about this. The management does not care for their employees and views them as expendable.
The paralegal profession is essentially dead-end because law school is required for any real promotion.
