Pros

Good place to learn job skills and get experience. They will give almost anyone a chance to prove themself. They will teach sales skills that can be applied to almost any product or service -- and many are easier to sell than a gym membership.

Cons

Lot's of hours, like a lot of sales jobs, and open every day of the year. People know they need to workout but they don't really want to. If they join the gym and don't use it you should be prepared to have them blame you.

Pros

Free gym membership, better facilities (pool), free spin class, free boxing class, free yoga, free pilates. People are for the most part friendly, and you get to watch good looking girls work out all day. But you also get access to the juice bar items like protein bars, protein shakes, gatorade or vitamin water.

Cons

When you work at a gym, sometimes you want to leave so soon you don't get your work out in. Big meat heads yelling constantly. It was kind of a bummer to drive from campus to downtown instead of just working out downtown, but the facilities made it worth it.

Pros

Free gym membership and not much else. Semi-flexible hours. Easy job.

Cons

High employee turnover, few/no opportunities for advancement, management does not seem to be screened or truly interviewed; some managers were great, some were downright horrible and disrespectful. Because of high turnover rates, it was difficult for management to ever implement changes and it made getting to know co-workers names a huge pain. Besides that, people kept having to constantly be trained in everything, so sometimes you didn't have someone in the gym who knew the answer to a customer concern or question. Our management team did not seem to work together as a team. Two out of the three managers made customer service their priority while the third wouldn't give customers the time of day if she was off the clock.
