Pros

-Large company -Global outlook with diverse set of operations and subsidiaries -Despite recent price fluctuations, financial situation has stabilised.

Cons

-Very inconsistent employee experience, satisfaction and perks will vary widely by business unit and country -If working for an operational site, no opportunity to move up. Have observed extreme slowdown in turnover of top site management limited opportunity for those not coming from the Glencore PLC arm of the company. -Canadian Salaries are market average, nothing out the ordinary. -Very poor employee engagement and communication. -Coming from the Xstrata side of the business, post merger much decision making and authority has moved up several levels of authority, many current professionals have become little more than low level administrators in practice. -Instructions, Orders and Demands can come from the Baar office with very little discussion or reason and without regard to practicality or cost. -No attention paid to professional development.

A big change

Pros

When privately owned, Glencore harnessed a true family atmosphere and a healthy collaborative environment. Expectations are high. As its London branch is modest in size everyone seems to work together as one solution although several conflicts around the company between individuals slow this progress.

Cons

Since its IPO offering it naturally evolved into a more corporate, stats based company with more focus on fewer staff members but increased workload. The business side runs efficiently although IT can at times become a hindrance, certainly in the last three years. Higher management are tough but mostly approachable and well educated. Staff seem to stay for several years which is always a positive
