Pros

Job security, great benefits, education is encouraged, and generally good people to work with. Job growth is supported and pushed for. Diverse work place both ethnicity and gender.

Cons

Low salary, no raises in 4 years because it is a government job. As staff faculty can treat you badly and get away with it in some schools/colleges. Even as IT you are/can be viewed as subordinate. Parking is expensive at $700. Bad employees are hard to get rid off.

Pros

Depending on your supervisor, you can schedule your own work schedule around classes. Great work experience for those interested in attending graduate school in the future.

Cons

Undergraduate research is a huge time commitment. Depending on your research and location, you need to be resourceful with limited equipment and supplies.

Pros

The only ones: Academic reputation and job network. Even though a lot of employers will give you meaningless, toilsome, and tedious tasks to perform which will not at all advance you professionally.

Cons

it comes down to this: you go to school to learn. in order to learn and not have to self teach yourself everything you need good teachers. Fact and anyone that refutes this is most likely in a liberal arts, management, or other nonsensical major or simply has no social life: Georgia Tech simply does not have good teachers. I have been in school for 16 years now and in that time I have learned that near-impossible curriculum is not at all necessary when a teacher is competent. IF YOUR ARE OUT OF STATE: please save yourself the financial investment and misery of attending this insitution and go somewhere that has good teachers
