Pros

Great brands that still matter for many consumers Employees who volunteer to make their community better - very high volunteerism rate. Genuine people who truly want to make a difference and drive positive change

Cons

Lack of enough external focus and acceptance of the reality of changing consumer food values Self preservation behavior vs, verbalizing and mobilizing around what is needed to succeed Personal relationships that may cloud decision making on talent

Pros

GMI has some wonderful perks, 37.5 hour work week, 1/2 day Fridays in summers, great on site services, and very generous with free give away product, sometimes 2-3 times per week.

Cons

I landed at GMI after the large layoff at Target, as well a few others. We spoke with each other about the culture of GMI, compared to Target, and we all noted that there is little to no sense of team in the areas we work in. Nor was there any designated on-boarding training offered to ensure success. It's very much a sink or swim mentality, where everyone is looking out for themselves. This was a huge disappointment.

Pros

Strict career plan and promotions are based on tenure not on ability. Company cars are a plus and the lower level people are great.

Cons

If you are a high performer vs a low performer, the bonus amounts are so similar that there is little incentive to be the best. People are promoted before they are ready and then hold back the teams that they join.
