Pros

The people hands down. Of course there are your exceptions to the rule and unfortunately its all in upper management. The company does take pride in the products they offer, both in terms of value and quality. Just cant beat that especially given the depth and breadth of the product portfolio.

Cons

The politcs of promotions and career experience. It's definitely about who you know more often then the work you produce. You definitely have to over communicte career desires without bruisng any egos and making sure you are getting quality experiences and exposure which is becoming less and less of an opportunity.

Pros

Job flexibility (hours, telecommuting), Manager support, business casual dress code, awesome campus with amenities found at no other company! Amenities include an onsite medical clinic, Caribou Coffee, D'Amico & Sons, Credit Union, Hair Salon, Employee Store with both General Mills products as well as cards and gifts, a fitness center, and a Concierge who can help you with just about anything. Climate surveys are done each year and are reviewed with a great deal of concern. I also like the bonus structure which is based on your job grade, personal performance and division performance.

Cons

Perception to working long hours. While it's not a 'requirement" it's difficult to discern when it's expected. The walk from the parking lot/ramp to your office can be long.

Pros

Great people. Great brands. Great opportunities. Starting out you get training, but a lot is on the job training. You have amazing opportunities to push the business forward and individual leadership is definitely encouraged. Bottom line is the people at General Mills are the best to work with.

Cons

Sometimes goals and corporate objectives are not as clear as they could be. General Mills was a bit slow on the innovation train.
