Pros

General Mills was a great place to work. I enjoyed every minute of it. I would definitely recommend working there.

Cons

Nothing really comes to mind about negatives with General Mills. They were a good company to work for and I worked with really great people.

Pros

Pay is industry average. They claim that they hire only the top 10%.

Cons

Wouldn't it make sense to pay in the top 10% or not the "average" if they only hire the top 10%. Falling head over heals for a new program sold to them by their competitor (P&G). The leaders obviously aren't leaders but followers. Going down the path of so many US companies that have failed. They just started from a better position given some of the fantastic leaders that used to work there so it will take a little more time for them to hit the dirt -but it's in the cards unless they change their ways. As for me, I'm bailing ASAP. To much dead weight at the top to ever change. They'll ride it down rather then admit that they are ruining the company and put themself out of a job. Pity is: a lot of hard-working employees are going down with them. Even worse, a lot of inside decision makers are funneling big bucks to their former employers (contractors) and will probably be rewarded with their old job back when things go to heck.

Pros

-Great general management experience -many 1st/2nd position brands to work on -potential for international experience -pays better than most other Minneapolis companies

Cons

-Work life balance not what it used to be -Very large Marketing backlog - 4-5 years plus before you are promoted to MM and the first MM jobs often don't have direct reports, PNL management. -Cliquey - you either fit the culture or you don't
