Pros

I started there in the Photonics div and it was a blast. Later I worked on some very interesting high power government programs that were very interesting and challenging. The Engineering staff I worked with was top notch and I learned a lot. My salary was a good and I routinely saw good raises. Then with a change in divisions and management it all became toxic

Cons

I witnessed incompetent senior engineers that had others do most of the design and then take all the credit. Nepotism and other religious groups are alive and well there. When you have been there over 10 years you had better watch your back. They forced me out after having years of good reviews for no good reason other than I made to much. I am aware of others that are still there that are facing the exit door as well. GA does very little promotion from within.

Pros

Benefits (healthcare, pension, 9/80 schedule) Nice office space

Cons

Very poor management/leadership Terrible communication both within and across departments HR does not deal with problem employees even after multiple reports (true for verbally abuse, extremely poor work ethic (sleeping at work, improper labor accounting), and generally inappropriate behavior) No empowerment of employees No employee training Minimal opportunities for career growth

Pros

I can not in any capacity recommend nor think of a reason any engineer should work for GA. This is segregated to the Desert Sites. HQ in Poway seems to be better.

Cons

Adelanto, El Mirage, Grey Butte sites are run by an incompetent Director (Micro-managing, pointless meetings, nepotism, no real engineering knowledge). Desert Sites have lost good engineers left and right in 2017. HR is well aware of the issues and turn a blind eye to the issues. The place is a revolving door for engineers (Mandatory 6 am start time, no security clearance, titles are vague and unclear, underpaid, will move you to other sites at their discretion). Job postings state Propulsion and Mechanical Engineers wanted however the Director will eventually turn all into Manufacturing Engineers. Very unstable.
