Cons
High School/Mean Girls dynamics; Unless you were "in" with the clique, you are only scheduled as an afterthought. As much as management team stresses the importance of revenue and opening Gap cards, I've seen top performers in both areas scheduled only once or twice a month regardless of their availability. Eventually these associates take their talents elsewhere and their absence felt in abysmal Gap card enrollments and store revenue. The Gap is the only place that I have worked where I felt such animosity and an overall unwelcome vibe. In every place of employment I have made lifetime friends except here. If you thrive in a environment of sarcasm and desire to belong to a clique then you will feel at home here. The salary was pretty awful, just above minimum wage. 2014 Gap raised the hourly rate to $9, all retail associates were paid the same regardless if you worked for the Gap for 5 years or 5 months. All incentives and raises were not taken into account.
