Pros

It was very nice to work for a company with such a good reputation; the climate in pharma can change so quickly that although I was lured in with promises of advancement and additional opportunities my employment contract was not extended regardless of excellent reviews by my co-workers and supervisors. The science performed is top-notch and well-executed.

Cons

It is a big company and the red tape can slow down progress. Research projects can get lost in the shuffle and peoples' hard work can go unrecognized or even unnoticed by senior management.

Pros

Great opportunities for learning in a multinational environment. Good culture, conducive to working harder and smarter. Career development and chances for promotion more likely than at other similar sized multinationals in Pakistan.

Cons

Compensation is well below industry averages, almost to the point of being unjust. High turnover means low retention of good human capital and future leaders. Pharmaceutical marketing practices sometimes questionable.

Pros

Multinational company operating in an interesting field - real life impact. The sheer size of the company allows (if you are lucky) a good level of international exchanges.

Cons

Some parts of the company are not really working together. Opportunities are not the same in all sites. Considering the multinational dimension of the company, this is a big downside: perceived inequalities, especially if fostered by a less-than-adequate local plant management, can result in excessive employees turnover and low motivation. The pharma industry is still quite "shielded" from competition: this is both a plus and a minus, since inefficiencies are allowed to survive.
