Pros

The office is very energetic, and filled with young minds eager to succeed. The team I worked with was very open to helping me expand my capabilities and giving me challenging learning experiences. Interns are trusted with the same duties as day-to-day employees. We got to attend internal meetings, communicate with affiliate offices, call clients and interact across office disciplines.

Cons

The work can get a bit monotonous. It's a lot of cold calling, and a lot of sitting in front of the computer.

Pros

Global reach, interesting and smart client base, fast-paced environment that (usually) values brains and achievement. Great existing and alumni network. Hours are moderate for NYC.

Cons

Lots of wannabe investment bankers trying to make up for not being on Wall St. Complete lack of organizational infrastructure around training, HR, and development. Execs regularly disrespected employees in public settings.

GLG Response

I’m glad you valued the work experience you gained at GLG. It’s disappointing to hear you had issues with infrastructure and culture. We recognize we have some catching up to do around training and development, and we’ve made important steps towards getting better, including formalizing our onboarding process this earlier this year and focusing heavily on managerial development. This continues to be a top priority for us. Regarding any disrespectful behavior you may have witnessed: integrity is an important value for us and we require all employees to treat others with dignity and respect. I hope that any staff member who feels that he or she wasn’t treated with respect takes advantage of our open door policy to ensure that any such behavior can be rapidly addressed.

Pros

You interact with clients and experts in various field a lot which equally gives you a lot of opportunities to learn new things. The working environment is friendly.

Cons

The work itself can get a little boring because your work is always the same. But by hosting events and inviting your clients does help a little.
