Pros

You can meet some really great people. Great central location. We share a building with a major cosmetic company so lots of flash sales on products.

Cons

Where do I start? If you end up with a good manager than your experience will be fine if not great. The main issue which is the underlying issue of a lot of complaints is bad managers. People get promoted to these positions because they’ve stayed at the company for a long time not because they have good leadership or people skills. Also, in training juniors are referred to as “subordinates”, and it feels like the power dynamic goes to people’s heads. The environment is pretty toxic in my opinion. Bullying is common, and if the person bullying you has been with the company for a number of years, don’t expect a fair outcome. There are people with multiple complaints against them who are still there. Ageism, sexism, and casual racism are common. Structure is not flat. In fact, this is probably one of the most hierarchy based companies I’ve ever worked at. Turnover is high. The job is pretty boring once you get over the learning curve. The CS role is nothing more than glamourised recruiting. Sales is nothing but a glamourised customer service role. What you are promised won’t be what you are actually doing. The camaraderie you share with others shouldn’t based on how much you all hate your job. No amount of money is worth personal and mental health. If you do take a job here, make sure you get everything in writing when interacting with people even for the simplest things. HR will NOT help with any issues you have.

Pros

I think that one of the greatest pros is that in this corporate temple, called GLG, you can learn about ways to worship a mighty metric-god, called XYZ, for the sake of confidentiality. During the 2.5 weeks of worshipping training, you can get well indoctrinated that feeding enough numbers to XYZ (and also its sub-metrics) is the most important activity in the temple and beyond in afterlife. Besides getting to study this lovely corporate religion, you can also get exposure to high-ranking Vice Parsons and Team Priests of the GLG church if you, for any reason, fall short of the commandments. As this is sacrilege, they will show you the benefits of the use of intimidation and existential fear, in the most sanctimonious ways, as means of motivation in the GLG church for achieving weekly sacrifices. You will be happy and motivated to come to worship every day of the week, including bank holidays, which goes without saying.

Cons

While the XYZ and its compound metrics prevail as Gods, the church seems to have begun to recognize the need of making the religion a tiny bit more humane and more appealing to potential and current GLGers, but in vain, since many have still been turning away from it, impeding a shift to worshipping different Gods, which is hoped to bring joy in working here. On a more serious note, if you want to learn about (t)ruthless US corporate culture, go no further, you will get a good taste at GLG.
