Pros

Coffee bar, nice people, and nice office.

Cons

GLG exploits the potential of recent grads who will work for low pay and a seemingly high amount of responsibility. Many managers are in their first job out of college. High turn over with associates (they'll tell you they are at the same rate as everyone else). Bonuses are extremely subjective (don't hold your breath).

Pros

Free coffee, easy commute and looks good on a resume.

Cons

The list is really infinite. When your manager is playing favorites to team members who are down right nasty and do not value any one else's time, things get frustrating. I sincerely believe that most people here are mentally unwell. The sense of complete urgency over ridiculous tasks is bizarre and makes me think people need bigger problems in their lives. Titles here mean nothing because all the jobs are the same - the only difference will be salary. There is little to no diversity, in the sense that you will work with privileged, upper-middle class white people who find absurd things to complain about and find fault with. The white privilege in this place was absolute disgusting and it made me ashamed to be apart of it. The environment is so toxic. People regularly are hiding back tears because the demands are ridiculous and their peers/manager's have no respect when speaking to them. This is a great place to waste your time and develop no real skills that you can use anywhere else after the age of 25.

Pros

GLG recruits talented individuals from top universities. However, it should be noted that the bulk of these individuals do not have degrees in Finance, Economics, Business, etc. These are the degrees you would expect to see for a company that pitches itself as a Financial Research Firm (which is pretty much the definition of False Advertising). Instead they are in Public Relations, Journalism, History, etc.

Cons

The absolute most boring monotonous work. A Research Professional at GLG (Senior Associate, Research Manager, Senior Research Manager) is truly a glorified call scheduler. You will receive an email or phone call from an Investment firm that has a contract with GLG and be asked to assist them with their research. This is done by searching a database of hundreds of thousands of individuals and finding someone who can speak to the client on the topic they are looking to learn about. You then schedule a time for the two individuals to speak on the phone. After, they speak you then log that you scheduled a phone call and ask the client if it was informative. If you schedule enough phone calls you then get a promotion. Literally that is it, it is terrifyingly boring and you will get zero career development after 2 years. Make no mistake if you stay with GLG for over 4 years and look to transition into another field you will have no clue what you are doing. Stay away the warning signs have all been posted here.
