Pros

The facility is nice and comfortable — and thanks to the endless free snacks, you could practically survive without ever buying a meal. Work and Life balance is pretty good.

Cons

Career development is difficult. There’s no management that talks about growth or improvement, Negative feedback about management has been ongoing for years, but I’ve heard nothing ever changes. The compensation scheme also differs so drastically by department and role that many people even avoid promotions altogether, preferring to stay in positions that simply maximize incentives. Endless rumors and gossip within the company, Honestly, it feels like the company won’t survive more than a few years.

Pros

Right in the center of Seoul, with excellent transport access and a spotless office setting. The canteen provides an unparalleled selection unlike anywhere else

Cons

Aside from a few pros, everything else is negative. There is no capable local management to provide leadership, establish clear strategies, or set a good example. Issues with management have been raised for years, leading to many resignations, yet nothing has improved. Management often shows a lack of motivation and professionalism, which has seriously damaged commercial performance. Overall, there is no will to grow, and the office environment is miserable. Clients have already turned to competitors, and the company is being thoroughly outperformed. Turnover is extremely high, and the culture shows no interest in individual career growth or development. Employees are becoming increasingly unmotivated and careless, and the overall atmosphere is a disaster. There is no sign of business improvement, and it seems certain this office will remain in decline for at least the next few years. In the worst case, this office may even be shut down.

Pros

~ largely young demographic, often new grads or early/mid 20s- very easy to make first new friends out of college who live in the city ~ great office location w/ included parking (even on non-business days) ~ quick development of soft skills like phone presence, persuasion, email writing, professionalism, organization, and drive ~ in-house barista and tea selection is nice, and happy hours are well catered ~ interesting work, lots of exposure to industries and economic topics ~ great opportunity to speak directly with high-level executives and industry professionals- networking can be easily achieved and you have very stimulating conversations

Cons

~ 8:30am-6:00pm with the expectation to “look out for, and respond if necessary, until 9pm and on weekends”- the burnout comes quickly ~ work is interesting at the surface, but since the admin support has been phased out and metrics/responsibilities have forever been increased, it feels more numbingly iterative, demanding, and tedious ~ middle managers are also young (26-29 in my experience) and usually have difficulty managing or coaching a right-out-of-college employee who may need hands-on-help or support with project work, especially given the volume of tasks we often are expected to handle ~ feedback is asked for, but rarely taken seriously ~ BU initiatives are well-intentioned, but like above, are rarely taken seriously by improving systems that contribute to those goals (i.g. more focus on personal client relationships, but we each have 10+ clients emailing us back and forth all day- and have experts, leads, managers, and mounting admin tasks to attend to as well… where does the time come from?)
