Pros

Used to be a great company to work for, so maybe there's hope it gets back there, but even well after i have left, I've heard it's worse. At the time I left benefits were still top notch, but maybe that's coming to an end too, see below.

Cons

Decided to consolidate, spent time/money to evaluate their employees, yet none of that was even considered when deciding who to let go. Appeared more of a front to the shareholders and employees and they really just removed people that were too old and/or had a high salary. The morale of the company was the worst I've ever been part of. I've heard and confirmed they took health care away from one location. Management plays favorites, there's no room or plan for growth, and no one is held accountable for their work. There is minimal/no HR/Finance/IT departments locally - everything is now outsourced. The CEO from Germany visited my location once, and did anything and everything to not be seen by the employees. Was escorted in and out for a meeting. Couldn't even say hello to the people that work for him.

Pros

It used to be a great company before it become a debacle

Cons

- Upper leadership does not live company values No Integrity – They ignore the laws for the dollar No Responsibility – They have eliminated healthcare for targeted locations - Leadership is too focused on the shareholders. So much so, they have forgotten to take care of the customer and employees. It’s just a matter of time before the shareholder gets pissed too - Completely reorganized a great company into a disaster of a mess - Let go all internal IT and outsourced to Accenture Common to have systems down weeks at a time - Clearly targeted the older employees during layoff Some employees were even directly told by their managers that they were picked to be cut because they were the oldest on the team! - Outsourced accounts payable Company now is notorious for not paying bills on time - Vendors and temp agencies are now refusing to do business with us - Cut off notices / threats from utilities seem to be a normal thing around here. They have money but are so disorganized they can’t seem to pay on time. - Centralized all management in Europe Most of the new managers had no to little experience managing others, now expected to manage global teams yet have no clue - Many managers have been placed into unrelated fields/roles during restructure making them completely incompetent to lead their new teams - Many employees have been placed into unrelated fields/roles during restructure making them completely incompetent to perform their tasks - Employees are generally very dissatisfied about leadership and direction - The turnover for HR is extremely high - Most departments are understaffed and unable to fill positions

GEA Group Response

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We are sorry to hear that you are having a negative experience working at GEA. We value all of our employees and hope to make the best of their time at GEA. Outsourcing certain areas within a business is very common. With this, we still have full time support from IT and have a self-portal to make it easier for employees to get help. We are sorry to hear that you find the restructuring to be unorganized. However, with any big restructuring, it takes time to see intended outcomes. We believe the restructuring will make for a better future at GEA. Thank you again for leaving a review. We value all feedback. Demile Robinson Gilmore Vice President, Human Resources North America and Latin America

Pros

Enjoyed the time working for GEA, smart people, made great friends, good benefits, European mentality, Enjoyed working with colleagues around the world (specially Netherlands). Company with lots of potential, Great technology and resources. Had a bad experience at the end with a person however I still give the company 4 out of 5.

Cons

Company changed customer focus to stock holder focus. Does not take care of their own employees (most valuable assets). Surviving environment. Lack of motivation. Lots of room for improvement.
