GE is not as great as everyone thinks.

Pros

Poor healthcare, bad raises even when you highly rated, if your not part of the it crowd you hit your glass ceiling very fast. They also now expect 2 hrs casual overtime.

Cons

If you do a good job they block you from moving up while the screw ups get promoted. Management is not looking to really get better, they are afraid of the unions and just looking for their next promotion. If investors really knew what it was like in the manufacturing shops they would demand change or never invest.

the hourly pay is one of the most competative around Batesville Mississippi delta area. Actually spend time every week to address health and ergonomic issues.

Cons

The company, GE, is always push people to improve more and then more on productivity. ten or fifteen percent improvement for this year may not last /good for next year.
